Carried to the Table

Whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty.  The water that I will give him will become in him a well of life that lasts forever.

John 4:17

Make sure that when you leave a person, he is closer to Jesus than when you first met him.

“Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.” - Romans 8: 23

I have a few friends that grew up in an orphanage.  They recount that if prospective adoptive parents would come to the orphanage, all the kids would put on their best clothes and come down to stand in a line for “inspection.”  In the minds of the children, they were all eagerly hoping to be selected for adoption.

It is hard for me to imagine how excited they would be if they were told, “you are going to be adopted.”  On a spiritual level, we to can be eagerly waiting to hear those words.  Well, the good news is that when we accept Christ as our Savior, we are given a message from the Holy Spirit.  “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” - Rom 8:16-17
