Devotional Thoughts:

Dig Deeper

If a person is wearing the prayer shawl (Tallis) and stretches out his arms it can look like a bird spreading its wings.  So the corners and edges of the Tallis are referred to as wings.

Psalm 91:1 & 4 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

This is the image of a mother hen gathering her young under her wings.  Since the tassels (Tzitzit) on the corners of the pray shawl are intended to remind the Israelites of God’s laws, this is a picture of how God’s law is intended to shelter us from the destructions of a sinful life.

Have you been living in under the protection of God’s Law?  So often we feel that God’s law is restrictive.  We think we have a better way.  Hollywood would have us think that His Law is outdated.

When we leave the protection of God’s instruct of how we should live, we open ourselves up to the ramifications of our sins!  When we live under His wings, we find protection and rest!  Go for the Cloak!

Prayer: Take a few minutes to talk to God about this concept.  Be honest, be specific, ask forgiveness and ask for strength.
