At the original passover, God instructed Moses to “Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, ... The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect.” (Exodus 12:3-5).  So they had to go out to their flock and choose a perfect lamb.  Then they had to kill it and put its blood on their door as a sign that they were trusting in God.

When Jesus goes to John the Baptist to get baptized, John says, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).  Then later in His life, at the Last Supper,  Jesus said, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22:20) Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and gives eternal life to all who believe.

When the first passover happened, the Israelites were all slaves when they had to chose a lamb.  By the next morning, they were all free!  In Romans 6, Paul talks about how sin can be enslaving.  So you need to make a choice.  You need to choose a lamb without blemish.  If you chose Jesus as your perfect lamb, you can be ‘set free from sin and become a slave to righteousness.’

It is time to make a choice.  Leave Egypt behind, let’s head to the promised land!

If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36)
