  1. Previews of Heaven

Previews are helpful for us.  We watch them so that we now what to expect of a movie.  Sometimes when I see one I think, “I can’t wait to see that movie, it looks so good!”

Romans 8:23-25 talks about a previews of heaven, when it says, “[We], who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”

It tells us that the previews come in two types.  The first type is groanings.  Yes, groanings.  When we groan over the sin of this world, we can be reminded that in heaven that will not exist.  When we groan over the injustice in this world, we can be reminded that in heaven that will not exist. When we groan over the sickness in our life or the life of a loved one, we can be reminded that in heaven that will not exist. When we groan over struggles and emotional hurts, we can be reminded that in heaven that will not exist.  So, Yes, groanings!

The second type of preview when the Holy Spirit give us “firstfruits” and “a sure hope.”  This can is the form of a peace in your heart and soul, and you think, “that must be a little preview of heaven.”  It can be in the form of Christian love shown or expressed to you, and you think, “that must be a little preview of heaven.” It can be wonderful time of worship, and you think, “that must be a little preview of heaven.”

Sometimes when I see these previews I think, “I can’t wait to see heaven, it looks so good!”
