Required at the First Passover

  1. 1.A Lamb without blemish:

Ex 12:5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect

  1. 2.Sacrifice the lamb:

Ex 12:7 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month,when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.

  1. 3.Bloody door:

Ex 12:22 Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe.

  1. 4.No broken bones:

Ex 12:46 "It must be eaten inside one house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones.

  1. 5.Share:

Ex 12:4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor

  1. 6.The Passover Meal:

Ex 12:8 That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.

  1. 7.Remember the day:

Ex 12:14 "This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD -a lasting ordinance.

Jesus our Passover Lamb

  1. 1. Jesus the perfect one:

1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

  1. 2.Sacrifice of Jesus

John 1:29 John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

  1. 3.Blood on the Cross:

Col. 1:20 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

  1. 4.No broken bones:

John 19:35 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken,"

  1. 5.Free to All:

Rev. 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

  1. 6.The Last Supper:

Matt 26:18 He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.' " (Also through verse 29)

  1. 7.Do this in Remembrance of me:

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."
