“On the last and greatest day of the Feast [the Feast of Tabernacles], Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.’ "  John 7:37-38

In these verses, Jesus boils the plan of salvation down to:

Thirsty - Come - Drink

A.W. Pink writes, “The pathetic thing is that so many thirst for that which cannot slake them.”  He wrote this in 1923.  Maybe they used the word “slake” a lot back then, but I don’t see Poland Spring coining “slake” in their latest slogan.  The dictionary defines slake as “to satisfy a craving; quench.”  We spend so much time, passion, and energy chasing after the wrong thirst quenchers.  Jesus sees this in us.  That is why He said, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.”  (John 4:13-14a)

The Psalmist teaches us about the right way to satisfy our craving when he says: “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.” (Ps 42:1)

Dasani bottled water has a marketing slogan: “Dasani - Can't live without it.”  On a hot summer day, how can you resist buying a bottle?  Jesus has something better to offer: “Living Water - Can’t live eternally without it!”  Please note that it is not for sale in bottles - He is giving it away in a stream.  Thirsty?  Come and drink!
